Train services across Funen will be severely disrupted for the rest of the day after a fire damaged a signal-control cabin at Aarup Station, broadcaster DR reports. The disruption is also causing delays across the country.

The fire damaged the small cabin that controls signals at the station. “Everything inside is black and melted,” said Michael Dyrborg, Banedanmark’s area manager, after inspecting the damage.

The signal system is out of service, extending journey times on all trains between Fredericia and Copenhagen. Regional trains between Odense and Fredericia are not running; replacement buses are operating instead.

The disruption could affect train services for the coming weeks, Dyrborg said. Banedanmark cannot yet say when normal operations will resume. DSB staff are available in Odense and Fredericia to provide guidance and answer questions.
