Fishermen and shipowners reach new agreement

The Faroese Fishermen’s Association and the Shipowners’ Association have agreed a new contract, and association chairman Jan Højgaard says he is “fairly satisfied,” KVF reported.

The agreement, reached on Thursday evening after mediation at the KG Hotel in Klaksvík, runs until April 1, 2028.

In April, the Shipowners’ Association asked the mediation institution to help settle the dispute with the crew associations. The associations rejected a mediation proposal later that month. The previous contracts had expired some time ago.
