A committee tasked with assessing bargaining conditions has arrived at the premises of Iceland’s employers’ association, where representatives of VR, LÍV and Fagfélögin are meeting with the association, mbl.is reported.
The committee has been called in to complete its work. Its role is to assess the conditions for collective agreements across the general labour market, although its precise task at the employers’ association was not clear.
At the time of the report, about an hour remained before the deadline for terminating the agreement. VR chair Halla Gunnarsdóttir told reporters she had signed termination notices for all the unions linked to VR, LÍV and Fagfélögin.
According to mbl.is sources, Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir had spoken with Halla about an additional housing interest benefit. Halla had brought the proposal to the meeting with the employers’ association. People at the premises said the outcome of the talks remained uncertain.
