A man has been sentenced to three months in prison for threatening Odense city councillor Signe Vedersø Keldorff on social media, DR reports, citing TV 2 Fyn.

Keldorff, who represents the Danish People’s Party, received the threats online after publishing a post on TikTok. She told DR News she was very pleased with the verdict and grateful for the work of Funen Police.

“It is so important that the punishment fits what you have done,” she said.

Keldorff said this was not the first time she had faced threats. She believes the risk of threats and harassment can deter people from becoming active in politics.

She hopes the verdict will encourage more people to get involved. “Politics is for everyone, and people should behave properly and be able to have a democratic conversation,” she said.
