Yle reports that the South Ostrobothnia District Court has remanded a man suspected in the Seinäjoki basement murder case. The prosecutor requested his detention, citing a risk that he could continue committing crimes.
The court released the man on Tuesday after a three-day murder trial, allowing him to await the verdict at liberty. It said there was no risk that he would evade the proceedings.
According to Ilta-Sanomat, police arrested him in central Seinäjoki a few hours after the trial ended. He was suspected of making an unlawful threat.
A second man is also suspected in the basement murder case. He remains in custody in connection with another murder case, whose trial is due to begin tomorrow in Kasperi, a district of Seinäjoki.
