Vantaa police investigate two attempted manslaughters; suspects remanded

Police in Vantaa are investigating two serious assaults as attempted manslaughter, and both suspects have been remanded in custody, Yle reports.

The first incident happened at about 5.30 a.m. on September 27 in Martinlaakso, a district of Vantaa. A 37-year-old man suffered injuries caused by a bladed weapon after an argument between two groups of men. The suspect, a man in his 20s, was arrested in Helsinki two days later.

The second incident took place at about 4.30 a.m. on October 3 in Koivukylä, another Vantaa district. Two groups argued at a restaurant and encountered each other again outside as they left. The victim needed hospital treatment. Both he and the suspect are about 40 years old. Police found the suspect the following day.

The Eastern Uusimaa District Court remanded both suspects on probable cause. Police are continuing their preliminary investigations.
