The Faroe Islands’ budget proposal for next year forecasts a surplus of 13.5 million kroner, but several planned savings are already facing opposition, KVF reports.

The government’s office in Tel Aviv is now unlikely to close. Municipalities oppose a plan to introduce port charges, while the Medical Association has raised concerns about the lack of new funding for the specialist doctors’ pool. Major investments are also planned.

As parliament continues its consideration of the budget, KVF’s radio programme Breddin will examine how robust the proposal is, the political climate in the new coalition and what the government and opposition are prioritising. Journalist Árni Gregersen and former parliament speaker Bjørt Samuelsen will take part in the discussion.
