Man admits many charges involving child sexual abuse

A 38-year-old man has been remanded in custody for an initial four weeks after a hearing at the District Court in Odense, DR reports. He is charged with possessing sexual material involving children, indecently assaulting a child and raping a child under 12 through a sexual act other than intercourse.

The man admits a large part of the charges, prosecutor Sarah Hørlück of the Funen Police prosecution service said. She declined to give details, saying the investigation had only just begun.

Police are starting a larger investigation, including reviewing material and identifying several victims whose identities are not yet known. Investigators may also gather witness statements and carry out examinations of victims, Hørlück said.

The man will remain in custody for four weeks while police investigate further.
