The University of the Faroe Islands has faced savings requirements for the past four years, and next year will be no different, KVF reports. Rector Martin Tvede Zahariasen is calling for agreements with the political system that set the university’s funding framework for the next four years.
“It is impossible to make plans and think about the future,” he said. “I don’t know how much money I will get next year. That is the situation right now.”
Zahariasen said universities elsewhere in Europe can plan against funding frameworks that extend several years ahead. He said long-term agreements are an important prerequisite for running a university.
