Armed police secure Rubio visit to Höfði

Iceland’s foreign minister, Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, welcomed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at Höfði this morning, with armed police providing security around the visit, mbl.is reports.

A large number of Icelandic and American journalists were also at Höfði. After the meeting there, Rubio is due to meet Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir and Þorgerður at the Culture House on Hverfisgata.

Rubio will then attend a press conference, where Icelandic and international media will be able to ask questions.
