Police carry out planned operation in Virolahti
Police are conducting a planned monitoring operation in Virolahti, with other authorities expected to take part, Yle reports. Police say the operation poses no danger to bystanders.
The operation is connected to a police investigation and may bring more police officers than usual to the area. It was prepared over several days and is not an unexpected situation, said Timo Perälä, a police inspector.
Police said the operation concerns one location and one person. Based on the information available to police, it is not related to an investigation into a crime. Privacy rules and investigative reasons limit what police can disclose.
Police have requested official assistance, and other authorities are expected to join the operation during the afternoon. Perälä said the situation has remained under police control and is not dangerous for people nearby. Police aim to complete the operation today and will announce when it has ended.
