Overnight frost sends drivers reaching for ice scrapers
Drivers in the Reykjavik area should prepare to scrape their windscreens before setting out, mbl.is reports, as overnight frost reached much of Iceland. It was the first time this autumn that residents in the capital area needed to clear their car windows.
Temperatures fell to minus 5C at Sandskeid and minus 4C in Vididalur at 5am. In Reykjavik, the temperature dropped to minus 2C.
Roads south of the mountain passes were mostly dry, so no icy conditions had formed, but drivers were advised to allow time to scrape their windows.
The lowest temperatures were recorded at Thingvellir, at minus 6.3C, and at Modruvellir in Horgardalur, where it reached minus 6.2C.
