Two men were arrested after separate assaults in the capital region, mbl.is reported, citing the police log for incidents between 5pm and 5am. Five people were in police cells by early morning.

The assaults took place in the 101 district and in Kópavogur. Both caused minor injuries. The two men, who were in an altered state, were taken to custody and held overnight.

One person was taken by ambulance to Landspítali’s emergency department after a traffic accident in the Árbær district yesterday evening or overnight. In Hafnarfjörður, a car struck the underside of a bridge; no one was injured, and the matter was dealt with at the scene.

Police stopped six drivers suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They also stopped one driver for speeding and another for using a mobile phone without hands-free equipment.
