Faroese ministry reopens search for hospital deputy director

Monday 5th October 2026 on 16:30 in Faroe Islands

Faroes, healthcare, public appointments

Faroes’ Ministry of Health and Energy has reopened recruitment for a deputy director with a medical background in the Hospital Service, KVF reported. The ministry said the applicant pool was not broad enough to continue the appointment process.

Only two people, both men, applied before the original deadline on September 28. The recruitment process had begun, but the ministry has decided not to proceed. The new application deadline is noon on Friday, October 30.

The deputy director is the senior physician responsible for the Hospital Service and also serves as a medical adviser to the ministry. Tummas í Garði previously held the role. He has left and now works as a doctor.
