Sheep offal is being thrown away because supply exceeds demand, KVF reports. Farmer Torkil Dalsgaard says it is not worthwhile to collect the offal and he is saddened to see good food wasted.

Dalsgaard, one of the Faroe Islands’ largest sheep farmers, says he has many sheep, but when there is no return for the offal, he cannot collect it all.

Agricultural adviser Jens Ivan í Gerðinum says the issue involves supply and demand, as well as subsidy schemes. He says foreign agricultural products receive considerably more subsidies than Faroese products.
