Objects repeatedly placed on Highway 5 at night

Objects have been placed on Highway 5 at night at least three times recently in Alapitkä, a locality in Lapinlahti, and vehicles have been damaged, Yle reports.

Police received reports of items on the busy road on the nights of September 29 and 30 and October 4. The objects included warning signs, the base of a plastic traffic cone, a bucket and a television.

Police say tips suggest there have been more incidents, although not all were reported. No personal injuries have been reported so far.

Police warn that placing objects on a road is a criminal matter. Unexpected obstacles on main roads can pose a fatal danger to traffic.
