Hackers attacked fish farming company Bakkafrost for eight hours last Thursday, and gained access to some user information, the company’s chief executive, Regin Jacobsen, told KVF.
Bakkafrost’s IT department and security systems detected the attack and quickly took action. The company is working with external security experts to investigate the incident and secure its systems. It has notified the relevant authorities.
The incident has disrupted work processes, particularly at Bakkafrost’s operations in Scotland. Jacobsen said the company hoped everything would be back to normal within a few days, but added that security was the priority and the investigation could take longer.
