A petition calling for the chair and executive board of SÁÁ, which provides specialist healthcare services, to resign had received 72 signatures, mbl.is reported.
Published on island.is, the petition urges chair Anna Hildur Guðmundsdóttir and the organisation’s executive board to step down. It says the departure of key managers, serious staffing problems and reduced admissions to Vog have created an unacceptable situation.
The petition also cites a loss of confidence in the chair and executive board among a majority of SÁÁ employees. It says the organisation’s main board rejected a proposal to support the executive board.
Those behind the petition describe the situation as a deep breakdown of trust and say the chair and executive board are responsible for conditions that have left staff unable to take on the responsibilities required by SÁÁ’s specialist services. They say resignations are necessary to restore trust, improve working conditions and ensure healthcare provision in the future.
