A new 30-minute Tulipop animated film, aimed mainly at children aged three to six, opens at Sambíó cinemas this weekend, mbl.is reports.
The story is set in autumn on Tulipop Island, where friends prepare for Halloween. When pumpkins begin disappearing, they search for the mysterious Pési the Prankster and try to solve the mystery before the holiday arrives.
Helga Árnadóttir, who handles Tulipop’s business operations, and designer Signý Kolbeinsdóttir are behind the brand. The intellectual property has been in development for 16 years, and the company began making animated films six years ago.
Árnadóttir said the film is the second of three and that its half-hour length makes it suitable as a first cinema experience for young children. She described it as a warm, entertaining autumn mystery with a positive message.
The film was made in collaboration with national television broadcasters in the Nordic countries and is due to be distributed there next year, before beginning its international rollout. The team spent just over a year making it.
