A resident of Vesturbær says it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured after hitting a poorly visible chain across a route in the neighbourhood, mbl.is reports.
Þröstur Þór Höskuldsson nearly ran into the chain while riding a scooter and later drew attention to it in a local Facebook group. Many residents agreed with his concerns, he said.
The chain is beside new buildings opposite Sorpa at Ánanaust. A small sign on it indicates that the route is for ambulance access. Þröstur said the chain is difficult to see and could be especially hard to spot in the dark.
He said he had spoken with people in the area and asked them to alert the building’s housing association. He also warned that such obstacles must be considered as bicycle traffic increases.
