Eight foreign nationals involved in four-car crash in East Iceland

All eight people involved in a collision between four vehicles on the Háreksstaðaleið road near Lindarsel in East Iceland are foreign nationals, mbl.is reported. Some live in Iceland, while the others are tourists.

Police operations at the scene have ended, according to a statement from the East Iceland Police. The force said it could not provide further information for now. The circumstances of the crash are being investigated by police and the Transport Accident Investigation Board.

A mass-casualty response plan was activated. Police, ambulance crews, rescue teams, a Coast Guard helicopter and the Red Cross responded. Rescue teams from across the region, including Seyðisfjörður, Norðfjörður, Suðurfirðir and Jökuldalur, were also called out.
