Savings will not hinder efforts to improve PISA results

Efforts to strengthen pupils’ reading skills and improve the next PISA results will not be affected by planned savings, Hjalmar Hansen, director of the Education Directorate, told KVF.

Faroese pupils’ reading performance has fallen markedly. From January 1, Nám and the Education Directorate will merge, and the draft budget says the combined institution must save three million kroner in 2027.

Hansen, who will lead the merger, expects the savings not to affect work to improve pupils’ reading skills.
