A reported magnitude 4.5 earthquake at Vatnajökull around midday on Saturday was caused by a system error, the Icelandic Met Office said, according to mbl.is.
Bryndís Ýr Gísladóttir, a natural hazard expert at the Met Office, said the information had not yet been removed from the agency’s website.
It was the second such system error at the Met Office in a week. On Sunday, the website reported a magnitude 7.4 earthquake north of Iceland, which also turned out to be an error.
