Four-car crash triggers mass-casualty response in East Iceland

A mass-casualty incident plan was activated after a collision involving four cars in Jökuldal, East Iceland, mbl.is reports.
It is not yet known how many people were in the vehicles or how seriously anyone was injured, Jón Þór Víglundsson, a spokesperson for Landsbjörg, told mbl.is. He said a substantial response was under way, with all rescue teams in the region called out, including teams from Seyðisfjörður, Norðfjörður, the southern fjords and Jökuldal.
The Icelandic Coast Guard’s helicopter unit was also called out at the request of the police in East Iceland, spokesperson Ásgeir Erlendsson confirmed to mbl.is.
