Kaarina after-school club left three children in a forest
Three children were left behind in a forest during an after-school club at Kaarina’s Swedish-language school last Thursday, Yle reports.
The children’s parents heard about the incident from them and contacted the school’s principal. The club is for pupils in the first and second grades.
Principal Maria Engblom said the school had discussed what happened but disputed that the children had been missing. She said both staff and pupils knew where they were, and that someone would have gone to get them if staff had realised they had stayed behind.
The forest is beside the school, across a pedestrian and cycling path. The school will change its procedures so staff count the children before leaving the forest and again at the path.
