Sweden’s Centre Party has invited all red-green parties to talks with external participants next week, in what its leader called an opening for constructive discussions. SVT reported that every invited party has agreed to attend.
Centre Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist said the meeting would focus on Sweden’s current situation and challenges, rather than on ministerial posts. She said the parties might not agree on every priority, but could identify where their biggest differences lie.
Thand Ringqvist said the invitation did not change the Centre Party’s clear red lines towards the Left Party. Asked whether the Left Party could gain influence in a government, she said that would be a matter for Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson, who is leading the discussions on forming a government.
The Social Democrats, the Left Party and the Green Party each confirmed they would attend. Thand Ringqvist said she had sought approval from her party before sending the invitations. Expressen reported that the party board and parliamentary group had discussed the proposal.
