Family doctors say their collective agreement allows them to receive wages through limited companies, but the health minister says the law does not authorise Heilsutrygd to pay a company. KVF reports that Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen says wages must be paid to an individual.
The disagreement follows nearly two years of dispute between a family doctor and Heilsutrygd. The doctor wanted payments made to their own limited company, but the agency refused. In April, Heilsutrygd transferred all outstanding money to the doctor’s personal salary account.
Turið Holm Johannesen, chair of the Family Doctors’ Association, said earlier this week that doctors have a contract-backed right to run their practices through limited companies. Niclasen said the Ministry of Health and Energy has no plans to change the law, adding that the doctors’ contractual arrangements are with the Ministry of Finance.
