Ruka and Levi open ski season as lift-pass prices rise
Ruka and Levi opened their first ski slopes on Friday using snow stored from the previous winter, as lift-pass prices are set to rise at several Finnish resorts this season, Yle reported.
The slopes opened as early as they did for the first time since 2020. Levi also opened a roughly four-kilometre cross-country ski track for early-season snow. Ruka’s track is due to open on October 10.
For the 2026-27 season, a standard adult day pass costs 60 euros at Levi, 58 euros at Ruka-Pyhä, 60 euros at Ylläs, 56 euros at Tahko and 55 euros at Himos. The equivalent prices last season were 58, 58, 58, 53 and 53.30 euros, respectively.
Standard adult season passes are priced at 595 euros at Levi, 631 euros at Ruka-Pyhä, 598 euros at Ylläs, 569 euros at Tahko and 629 euros at Himos. Last season, they cost 577, 612, 567.50, 559 and 618 euros, respectively.
Antti Turunen, sales and marketing director for the Ruka and Pyhä resorts, said price changes remained moderate. He said inflation, higher operating costs such as electricity and fuel, and investments made during the year had contributed to increases.
Passes may be cheaper when bought online, during campaigns or in advance. At Ruka, an adult season pass bought before December costs 88 euros less than the regular price. The prices listed do not include the contactless card required to use the lifts.
Turunen said resorts understood that household finances could be tight and that pass prices prompted feedback each year.
