Finland’s Council for Mass Media has reprimanded STT for failing to adequately verify claims in a report about alleged misconduct by Tytti Tuppurainen, Yle reported.

The report, published on January 28, 2026, said: “People around Tytti keep changing, and her assistants are on sick leave all the time.” STT later found that the claim was inaccurate and corrected the story 10 days after publication.

The Council said STT should have checked the claim more carefully and that a correction after publication did not make up for inadequate fact-checking. It found that STT had breached section 9 of the Guidelines for Journalists, which requires information to be checked as thoroughly as possible, including when it has been published before.

Yle also republished STT’s report and later corrected the information. The Council published its decision on Friday, October 2, 2026.
