Police find large quantity of drugs and cash in car

Police found a large quantity of drugs and cash in a car during a routine traffic check, mbl.is reported. Further inspection raised suspicions that the driver might be involved in selling and distributing drugs. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.

Three people were in police custody early Friday, according to the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police log covering incidents from 5 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Two people who had fallen asleep drunk in public in the city centre were taken to shelter. Three drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Two other drivers were found to lack valid driving licences: one had never held a licence, and the other had been disqualified from driving.
