Landsvirkjun chief executive Hörður Arnarson will leave the company at the end of this month, after differences with its board, board chair Brynja Baldursdóttir told mbl.is.

Arnarson announced his departure at a staff meeting on Thursday. Sources cited by mbl.is said he told staff there had been disagreements between him and the board.

Baldursdóttir said people did not always agree on everything and that Arnarson had chosen to leave “a little earlier than otherwise”. She said he would leave Landsvirkjun in top condition after 17 years, with exciting times ahead for the company.

She said the disagreements were not about dividend payments or ESA competition matters.
