Danish military admits error over shots during plane overflight
Denmark’s armed forces has admitted it gave incorrect information about soldiers firing shots while a Norwegian passenger plane flew over the Borris shooting range in 2025, DR reported. The military says the soldiers fired at suspected drones, not at the aircraft.
Army commander and Major General Peter Boysen said Thursday that a review found the shots were fired between 20:06 and 20:08. The armed forces had previously said no shots were fired while the plane was overhead.
Boysen said soldiers were certain they had fired at drones and that the shots were directed elsewhere. In total, 43 shots were fired, the military said. It also said the weapons could not reach the aircraft.
The plane flew at an altitude of 2,800 metres over the range during the period when residents reported hearing gunfire. Boysen said the military had made a mistake and that he took responsibility for correcting its account.
The incident drew attention after reports that unidentified drones had flown over Copenhagen Airport and military areas in Denmark less than a week earlier.
