A member of parliament says there were clear signs someone had entered their second home in Helsinki during the summer, describing the suspected intrusion as frightening, Yle reported Thursday.

Yle is not naming the MP to protect their privacy. The MP said they were concerned because they are usually alone at the apartment.

The MP said there were no signs of forced entry, but some doors had been left open. They declined to give further details about what they found and said they had passed the information to the Security Police, which is investigating it.

Helsinki police have started a preliminary inquiry into suspected intrusions at MPs’ homes. Yle has reported that fewer than 20 such cases are suspected. No signs of forced entry or theft have been reported, but signs that someone had been inside were found.

The MP said they hoped the incidents and their cause would be investigated thoroughly.
