Four men have been remanded in custody for another four weeks, until October 28, in a drug import investigation, mbl.is reports.

Reykjavik District Court issued the ruling on Wednesday at the request of the police in the capital region. The men were held on public interest grounds as the investigation continues.

Three men were arrested in the first half of September and the fourth a week later. Police say the case concerns the import of five kilograms of amphetamine in an express shipment from Germany.

The men are also suspected of receiving other drug shipments in recent weeks. Police are investigating those suspicions, and searches uncovered drugs believed to be connected to earlier shipments, including one kilogram of ketamine.

All four were arrested in Reykjavik and were initially remanded in custody on investigative grounds. Police aim to complete the investigation soon and then refer the case to the district prosecutor’s office.
