Foreign driver escapes after car enters Sandsvatn

A foreign man escaped after driving a car into Sandsvatn on Wednesday evening, KVF reported. He had driven from a construction site belonging to SEV in a quarry north of the lake and entered the water instead of following the road.

The man was alone in the car and got out before it went completely into the lake. Police said the car has since been recovered.

Local resident Róin Clementsen, who filmed the car floating on the lake, described it as a “rare sight” when he posted the video on Wednesday evening.
