Magnús Erlendsson to lead KPMG advisory division

Magnús G. Erlendsson has been appointed head of KPMG’s advisory division, the company said in a statement reported by mbl.is. He joined KPMG in 2005, became a shareholder in 2014 and has chaired the company’s board for the past two years. He has also led KPMG’s corporate advisory work.

KPMG said Erlendsson has extensive experience advising companies, financial institutions and public bodies, including on finance, corporate transactions, restructuring and operational improvements.

“Magnús has played a key role at KPMG for many years. He has extensive experience, knows the business very well and is well equipped to lead the advisory division,” said Hlynur Sigurðsson, managing director of KPMG in Iceland.

Erlendsson succeeds Svanbjörn Thoroddsen, who is leaving KPMG after 17 years to become managing director of business development at Íslensk Fjárfesting ehf.

“I want to thank Svanbjörn for an excellent partnership over the past 17 years and wish him well in his new role,” Erlendsson said. “He has been a strong leader and contributed greatly to building and developing KPMG’s advisory division. I have learned a great deal from working with him and look forward to building on the strong foundation he leaves behind.”
