Strandhäll suggests V and C could get minister posts in 2028

Social Democratic politician Annika Strandhäll says her party could agree to reconsider giving the Left Party and Centre Party ministerial posts halfway through the next parliamentary term, SVT reports. She said the parties would not join a government from the outset.

Strandhäll made the suggestion on Politikbyrån, an SVT political programme. She said Social Democrats would be even less willing to form a government with the Left Party after it voted for Moderate Party politician Andreas Norlén as speaker of parliament.

“With the lack of trust I hear and see now, that path is not viable,” Strandhäll said.

She said a possible way past the deadlock would be an agreement on shared policies, with the parties prepared to reconsider their place in government around the midpoint of the term.

Strandhäll is a former Social Democratic member of parliament, sits on the party’s executive committee and chairs the Social Democratic Women’s Association. She said she knew in advance that Magdalena Andersson would return the task of exploring a possible government after the Left Party’s vote for Norlén.
