Finland pledges seven million euros for Gaza and East Jerusalem

Finland will provide seven million euros to support Gaza’s recovery and Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem, the Foreign Ministry said, according to Yle.

Four million euros will go to the UN’s Horizon Fund for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. The fund supports implementation of the Gaza peace plan, including efforts to create jobs and restore basic services.

Foreign Trade and Development Minister Ville Tavio said the fund could enable large-scale reconstruction and help meet needs in education, housing, health care and employment.

The remaining three million euros will be channelled through the EU’s Pegase budget support mechanism to the Palestinian Authority for health care in East Jerusalem. The funding is allocated for 2027 to 2029.

The ministry said Pegase has helped about 20,000 Palestinians each year access specialist care at hospitals in East Jerusalem.
