Pori to add summer jobs for young people in technical services

Pori’s technical committee has unanimously approved increasing the number of summer jobs for young people next summer, Yle reports. The jobs are planned for the city’s technical services, including green-space maintenance, disc golf courses, sports facilities and maintenance work.

The committee will set aside additional funding for the jobs in the 2027 budget. The proposal has also been added to the staffing plan for 2027 to 2029. No funding amount or number of new jobs has been specified.

The proposal was put forward by Esa Lehtilä and supported by Raija Kukkakorpi. Lehtilä said the wide range of work in technical services offered an opportunity to provide young people with their first jobs. He said the motion was intended to signal to the city board and officials that resources should be found to employ young people.
