Magnitude 3.6 earthquake strikes near Grímsey

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck about 35 kilometres northwest of Grímsey shortly after 1 a.m., mbl.is reported.

An earth scientist at the Icelandic Met Office said several other earthquakes had been recorded in the area in recent days. Earthquakes are common there.
