Underage suspects injure two staff at Isokyrö housing unit

Two staff members at a housing unit for minors in Isokyrö were injured in an attack involving a bladed weapon, Yle reported. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said a resident under 15 had the weapon and swung it at the unit’s staff on Tuesday evening. Both staff members were hit and taken to hospital.

Two minors are suspected in the case. The person who used the weapon is under 15, while the other suspect is over 15.

Police are investigating the incident as attempted manslaughter and assault. The suspected offences may be revised as the preliminary investigation continues. Officers have conducted forensic investigations at the scene and interviewed people involved.

Police said the investigation is continuing to establish what happened and the actions of those involved. They expect to provide further information no earlier than next week.
