Fire breaks out at Tampere waste plant with history of blazes

A pile of waste began smouldering in a processing hall at a waste plant in Tampere on Wednesday, prompting a large building-fire response, Yle reports.

The plant is on Tauskonkatu in the Rusko district. Twenty-two rescue service units were sent to the scene, according to the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department.

The Remeo Rusko plant has had several fires before. The longest lasted 10 days.
