Divers refloat Jökull after third sinking

Divers refloated the line-fishing vessel Jökull SK 16 at Hafnarfjörður harbor on Tuesday, after it sank for the third time in six years, mbl.is reported.

“The diving service did its job today, and it went well. The boat was afloat before the end of the working day,” harbor manager Lúðvík Geirsson told mbl.is.

The vessel’s owners will decide when it is taken ashore and scrapped. Lúðvík said the plan was to bring it ashore very soon, and probably dispose of it. The owners had been told to remove the boat after it sank twice, according to harbor board member and police officer Guðmundur Fylkisson, who spoke about the matter two weeks ago.
