Thirteen volunteers with the Faroe Islands Mountain Rescue Association have completed a wilderness first aid qualification, KVF reports.
The group took the Wilderness First Responder course run by Wilderness Medical Associates International. Instructors from Iceland taught the course in the Faroe Islands over 10 days.
The training focuses on first aid in remote and challenging environments, where it may take a long time to get a patient to hospital or other advanced medical care.
The association described the course as an important step in developing professional standards in its rescue work.
