Court fines climate activist 17,000 kroner for multiple offences

A climate activist who disrupted the King’s Guard’s parade march after the King’s New Year speech has been fined 17,000 kroner for multiple offences, DR reports. Copenhagen City Court found Oskar Kluge, a member of the climate group Nødbremsen, guilty of violating public order regulations.

Kluge stepped in front of the crowd with a banner at Amalienborg on 31 December 2025, after the King’s New Year speech. He was pushed to the ground by a guardsman after refusing to move.

The guardsman was reported to police but was not charged. Military prosecutors concluded he was entitled to use force. Kluge was also charged with repeated violations of traffic laws and public order regulations. The court ordered day fines totalling 17,000 kroner.

Kluge has said he does not intend to change his approach to climate protests. He said he believes people can be annoyed by a protest while still wanting a safe future for their children.
