Hjalmar Hansen says he would accept the job of director of a new institution formed by merging the Education Directorate and Nám, KVF reports.

Hansen, who currently leads the Education Directorate, has been tasked with organising the merger alongside Eyðun Gaard, the director of Nám. The Ministry of Education announced on Monday that the two institutions will merge from January 1.

The merged institution will have 88 full-time equivalent positions and a budget of 91.5 million kroner. The 2027 budget proposal assumes it will save three million kroner.

Hansen said he could not rule out layoffs.
