Björk ends contracts of all coaches aged 18 and over

Gymnastics club Björk in Hafnarfjörður has terminated the contracts of all its coaches aged 18 and over, with the dismissals taking effect at the end of the year, mbl.is reported.

The club’s board informed parents and guardians by email on Monday that it had been working to reorganise its operations in recent months and was in talks with Hafnarfjörður municipality about an operating and service agreement. It said the club’s operations also had to be adjusted to current conditions.

The decision was made for financial reasons and was not related to the coaches’ performance, the email said. Existing contracts remain in force through December 31, and training will continue according to the current schedule.

Björk said it aims to keep activities across its departments and groups unchanged, minimise disruption and ensure continuity for participants. The club will provide more information as matters become clearer and contact parents directly if changes are made to their children’s groups.
