One taken to hospital after Borgarfjörður substation accident

One person was taken to hospital after a work accident at a Landsnet substation in Borgarfjörður, mbl.is reported Monday.

The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter was called out at about 1 p.m. and landed at Landspítali hospital in Fossvogur shortly before 3 p.m. The person was picked up at the substation.

Power outages were reported in parts of Borgarfjörður and Mýrar, and may be connected to the accident. Landsnet communications director Valgeir Örn Ragnarsson confirmed that an incident had occurred at the company’s substation at Vatnshamrar in Borgarfjörður.
