Low-profile negotiators may shape Andersson’s bid for power

Tough negotiations lie ahead if Magdalena Andersson of the Social Democrats is to take over government, SVT reports. The parties are expected to send their most skilled officials and politicians to the negotiating table.

Among the Centre Party’s negotiators, SVT’s sources point to former member of parliament Jonny Cato, now chief of staff and a central figure in the circle around party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist. Mattias Johansson, a little-known member of the party board who is said to be close to Ringqvist, may also take part. Party secretary Hannes Hervieu is expected to be called in as well.

Left Party deputy leader Ida Gabrielsson is expected to defend the party’s red lines in talks about government formation. Former LO economist Sandro Scocco is likely to join her, possibly alongside Daniel Bernmar, a combative politician from Gothenburg.

The Social Democrats are expected to draw on several less-public figures as negotiators, including former state secretaries, a head of communications and a former election campaign leader. Senior politicians may also join the talks if the red-green parties enter negotiations.
