Police respond after man sets himself on fire at agency

Police were heavily present at Denmark’s Agency for International Recruitment and Integration in Valby after a man set himself on fire inside the building, DR reported. The fire was quickly extinguished by an employee, and the man was taken to Rigshospitalet for treatment. He is out of danger, and his relatives have been informed.

Police said there was no immediate indication that a crime had taken place. The man was alone, and the agency described the incident as self-harm.

Copenhagen Police received the report at 10.12 and went to the agency on Carl Jacobsens Vej. The situation is under control and is being handled with police and crisis psychologists, the agency said on its website.

The agency is closed for the rest of the day. People whose appointments were cancelled will be given new appointments, it said. It remains unclear what led the man to set himself on fire or why he went to the agency.
